The Bears’ early returns on Matt Nagy’s offense are nothing magical. Can he find a spark?

It’s getting dark around Matt Nagy as the Bears’ playoff chances get bleaker, and to his credit, he’s such an optimist that he views the low point of his head-coaching career as a beautiful opportunity.

“I kinda enjoy it,” he said earnestly. “I don’t want to lose, but it’s like, ‘Hey, let’s go. You’re gonna be at a point now where you’re gonna test us. Let’s roll. Let’s stick together. Let’s freaking go.’”

He is undeterred and unwilling to concede that the Bears are in shambles.

The season has already gone horribly off track at 3-4 with a tough road game against the Eagles on Sunday, but Nagy’s “earmuffs and horse blinders” mantra shields him from the thunder outside Halas Hall.
