First-half meltdown proves Nets have a long way to go

INDIANAPOLIS — The Pacers were the Nets’ first playoff foe of this young season and a benchmark for their own progress. But against a seasoned Indiana team, they were weighed, measured and found wanting, hammered 132-112 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Coach Kenny Atkinson had hoped his Nets could maintain their composure, keep from giving up a big run and digging themselves yet another big hole. But just as they had in their first two games — and on so many nights last season — they looked young and green in a two-minute span that cost them dearly.
