D’Angelo Russell goes silent as Lakers’ whispers grow

Picture getting dumped and your ex begging you to come back.

Picture getting fired and your old job offering you a raise to return.

Now, imagine D’Angelo Russell going back to the Lakers. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis as teammates, and a big raise in his pocket.

Yeah, we know. We know. But there’s reportedly mutual interest from the Nets’ restricted free-agent guard and the team that cast him off.

Trading for Russell two years ago was Nets GM Sean Marks’ signature move — at least, to date. The 23-year-old blossomed into an All-Star and led the Nets to their first playoff berth since 2015 this past season.
