Special teams help No. 12 BGSU hockey knock off No. 3 Minnesota State

BOWLING GREEN — Twelfth-ranked Bowling Green scored an important hockey victory Friday at Slater Family Ice Arena, and the Falcons have their special teams to thank.

Bowling Green’s power play accounted for three goals, and its penalty kill was perfect in a 4-1 defeat of No. 3 Minnesota State.

The victory gave Bowling Green its second win against a top-five opponent, and brought them to within one point of second place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

“It turned into a game where special teams were going to be the difference-maker,” said BG center Connor Ford, who scored twice.
