For the second year in a row the Red Sox will send three players to the MLB All-Star Game, with Garrett Crochet, Alex Bregman, and Aroldis Chapman all earning nods. Looking over those names, you may notice that none of them were on the team last year, and that each of them were acquired via an investment of either money or prospect capital (substantial investments with respect to Crochet and Bregman). That’s just a nice little reminder that, as John Henry would say, good baseball players aren’t cheap. (Tim Healey, Boston Globe)
