CINCINATTI – After a scheduled off day on Thursday, the Red Sox planned to have Dustin Pedroia at second base for the first two games of this series at Great American Ballpark.
That plan changed when Pedroia’s left knee was more sore than usual on Friday. Pedroia is out of the lineup this afternoon, and the Red Sox are left with a familiar balancing act between giving Pedroia down-the-stretch at-bats and keeping him health for postseason production.
