Opening Day is only nine days away and the Orioles may not quite be done making additions to their starting rotation. According to Yahoo’s Jeff Passan, the last remaining “big” free agent pitcher, Alex Cobb, is close to signing a deal, and his sources believe it’s the Orioles who are nearing a Cobb contract.
Locally, MASN’s Roch Kubatko added that he had heard the same about Orioles and Cobb about a deal being close, tweeting for fans to “Stay tuned.”
My standard rule for baseball rumors is that probably nothing will happen, but when it’s March 20, Cobb has to sign somewhere, the Orioles probably still have to sign a pitcher, and reporters both local and national are reporting on things being close, that’s a different story.
