MUNCIE, Ind. — When a Ball State defensive player’s phone goes off each morning, they usually know who the text is from. Ball State defensive coordinator David Elson likes to provide his players some inspiration to start each day, and it’s something they’ve come to expect.
“You know when you get that ding on the phone, it’s coach Elson. Nobody else,” Ball State defensive end Anthony Winbush said. “It’s pretty cool. We all like it.”
Elson will mix it up with quotes from famous coaches or anything that is motivational.
“Sometimes if you’re feeling down one day, you know you have something to look forward to,” Winbush said.
