Trae Young out for Hawks-Clippers game

Trae Young will not play in the Hawks’ matchup with the Clippers on Wednesday at State Farm Arena, per coach Lloyd Pierce.

Young, who ranks third in the NBA in scoring (29.2 points per game) and fourth in assists (8.6 per game), is out with a right thigh contusion, which he sustained in the loss to Toronto on Monday, Pierce said.

“It was worse today even than it was yesterday, I guess, but he came in and got it checked out and did a couple tests and just not good for tonight,” Pierce said.

Jeff Teague will start in Young’s place, joining Kevin Huerter, De’Andre Hunter, John Collins and Bruno Fernando in the Hawks’ starting lineup.
