Kevin Gausman returns to the rotation on Sunday as the Atlanta Braves look to salvage a split in their series against the Washington Nationals. The Braves currently hold a 5.5 game lead over the Nationals in the NL East standings.
Gausman will be making his first start since June 10 where he lasted just 2 1/3 innings against the Pirates. He was placed on the injured list the next day with plantar fasciitis but shutting him down was as much about allowing him time to reset after a disastrous stretch.
Gausman posted a 4.33 ERA over his first 10 starts of the season encompassing 54 innings.
