It really wasn’t much of a surprise that the Atlanta Braves brought back Nick Markakis on a one-year deal for $4 million.
As much as the fanbase is split on the veteran outfielder, $4 million is still a pretty good price for what Markakis can offer.
The Braves gave Markakis the same deal they gave Tyler Flowers in that they declined the $6 million team option for 2020, gave him his $2 million buyout, and then resigned him for $4 million for 2020.
By doing that with both players the Braves were able to save $4 million towards their 2020 payroll.
