When the Braves took Braden Shewmake with the 21st overall pick in 2019 he immediately became the best of the Braves infield prospects, and was treated as such getting an early opportunity to make his way to the alternate site. Shewmake was dominant in Rome in 2019 as he should have been, but did have some struggles in Mississippi in a very small sample at the end of the season. The Braves are very excited both by Shewmake’s potential and proximity to the major leagues.
What Went Right in 2020
While I wouldn’t say he was particularly **good** Shewmake held his own in fifteen spring training at bats this season and showed major league quality defense at the shortstop position.
