The Red Wolves ended the first 18 holes only one stroke behind Lamar and UTEP and within seven strokes of UT San Antonio. Houston Baptist led the field with a 294, while Central Arkansas stood second with a 297. The tournament’s second round of play wasn’t completed due to a delayed start and darkness.
Junior Beth Ann Compton completed the first round tied for 31st place after carding a 77, while sophomore Grayson Gladden recorded a 78 to tie for 43rd. Freshman Maria Jose Atristain Vega rounded out the team scoring by registering a first-round 86 to finish in 89th place heading into tomorrow’s action.
