Third-seeded Arkansas State fell short in its quest to repeat as Sun Belt Conference Tournament champions when it lost 83-73 to No. 2 seed Troy in the semifinals Sunday at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla.
Troy defeated ASU for the third time this season, having won both of the regular season meetings. Troy advanced to the tournament championship game where it will face James Madison, which beat top-seeded Georgia Southern 81-53 in the other semifinal game.
"Obviously, we didn't accomplish the ultimate goal that we wanted to accomplish this year," ASU Coach Destinee Rogers said.
