The Arizona State and Arizona football programs appear to be headed in different directions.
Their coaches are headed that way in a recent college football coach ranking.
CBS Sports recently ranked all 65 Power 5 college football coaches and has Arizona State's Herm Edwards ranked No. 30 in the nation.
It has Arizona's Kevin Sumlin ranked No. 53.
Edwards rose 24 spots from his ranking in 2019, the highest rise of any coaches outside the Top 25.
Tom Fornelli wrote: "I'm lower on him than the consensus because I think some people might be ranking Edwards based on their expectations for him when he was hired.
