ASU football program in limbo with no timeline for return because of coronavirus

Even before his team kicked off the delayed 2020 season, Arizona State football coach Herm Edwards was a voice of reason, frequently referencing two opponents - the one on his team's schedule and the other being the coronavirus.

Despite everyone's best effort, the virus caught up to the Sun Devils football program this week, days after its return from a road game in Los Angeles. ASU's game scheduled for Saturday night against California was canceled after the virus hit players, the coaching staff and the support staff.

The school is not releasing the number of people affected but judging by various accounts the number of players now dealing with it is likely in the double digits with Edwards and several of his assistants also among the victims.
