It was supposed to be true freshman quarterback against true freshman quarterback as Arizona State squared off against USC in Pac-12 play Saturday afternoon. But it wasn't supposed to be that freshman quarterback for ASU.
It was the Trojans and the more experienced Kedon Slovis getting the best of ASU and emerging with a 31-26 victory in front of 54,191 at Sun Devil Stadium. It marks the first three-game losing streak of Herm Edwards' two-year coaching tenure.
The battle of quarterbacks was going to be a main talking point of the game either way, with Slovis, the product of Desert Mountain, returning to his home state for the first time.
