Tim Locastro has made a name for himself by getting hit by pitches, but on Thursday, it was a teammate getting hit that brought him into the game.
Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed was drilled by a pitch in the third inning. The 95 mile-per-hour fastball from Rockies right-handed pitcher Jeff Hoffman hit him below his left pinky.
Ahmed would head to first and stay out for the top of the fourth, but later leave the game with a left hand contusion. The Diamondbacks lost 6-4 to the Rockies in 10 innings, but fortunately for manager Torey Lovullo and his staff, Ahmed's injury will not pile on top of that.
