Former Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Godley claimed off waivers by Blue Jays

Right-hander Zack Godley was claimed off waivers on Wednesday by the Toronto Blue Jays, a move that brings an end to his up-and-down tenure with the Diamondbacks.

Godley, who was designated for assignment on Sunday, had a 6.39 ERA in 76 innings split between the rotation and the bullpen.

Not long ago, Godley was a reliable member of the Diamondbacks’ rotation. He came up from the minors in 2017 to replace injured right-hander Shelby Miller and pitched like one of the league’s better starters, logging a 3.37 ERA in 155 innings.
