Greg Holland, who started the 2019 season as the Diamondbacks closer but lost that role in late July, will be designated for assignment by the club, a source confirmed to The Arizona Republic on Wednesday.
The news, first reported by The Athletic, means the Diamondbacks will have cut ties with two pitchers this week. Zack Godley, who started the season in the rotation but was reassigned to the bullpen in midseason, was DFA on Monday.
