There was a time when Kliff Kingsbury was public enemy No. 1 in Baker Mayfield’s eyes.
Time has passed and time has helped to mend the fences. But it wouldn’t have happened if Kingsbury hadn’t reached out to Mayfield to resolve the strife.
It occurred back in 2013 when Kingsbury recruited Mayfield as a walk-on at Texas Tech. Kingsbury already had his starting quarterback in Michael Brewer that year, but Brewer suffered a back injury and Mayfield stepped in to help lead the team to a 5-0 start as a true freshman.
