Getting the start in place of injured quarterback Cam Newton, former Valley prep standout Kyle Allen passed for 261 yards and four touchdowns on Sunday to help lead the Carolina Panthers to a 35-20 victory over the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium.

It was the first win for Carolina (1-2) while Arizona (0-2-1) remains winless.

Allen, who threw 86 touchdowns and passed for more than 8,000 yards at Scottsdale Desert Mountain High School, connected twice with tight end Greg Olsen on a pair of 3-yard touchdowns and also had scoring strikes of 5 and 52 yards to Curtis Samuel and DJ Moore, respectively.
