CLEVELAND - Karlie Franz was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Franz scored the first 10.000 by a Kent State gymnast since 2004 as part of a historic night at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic on Friday. Led by the graduate student, the Golden Flashes posted a program record score of 197.725, which has only been topped by four teams this season. The graduate student's perfect 10.000 on floor exercise is the first by a MAC gymnast in the event since 2005. Franz matched her career-high on her other event with a score of 9.
