Sean Dyche admits Everton must be 'realistic' about summer signings after flirting dangerously with relegation from the Premier League for the last two seasons

Sean Dyche says Everton must be realistic about where they are as a club after two seasons of flirting dangerously with relegation, with finances meaning the club must be savvy in the market with ‘mid-term’ signings.

The Toffees are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Sporting Lisbon forward Youssef Chermiti but Dyche has played down expectations that the Portuguese can solve Everton’s goal-scoring problems, describing the striker as a ‘project’.

‘Would we look at that player if he was five years older and had scored 100 goals?,’ said Dyche. ‘Of course we would.
