NEW YORK - After leading the Musketeer men with a pair of individual wins against Miami, Xavier men's swimmer Rodrigo Suriano was named the male BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Suriano took the top spot in the freestyle sprints on Saturday afternoon against Miami, in the Musketeers' second meet of the weekend. The native of San Salvador, El Salvador posted a BIG EAST Championship qualifying time of 21.00 in the 50 free. Suriano followed that up with a time of 46.13 in the 100 free, also meeting BIG EAST standard.
