SAN JOSE, California – Trevon Bluiett couldn’t quite pull himself off the baseline at SAP Center, doubled over, jersey clenched in his teeth. The tears welled. He pulled up part of his jersey over his eyes as his Xavier University teammate and coaches slowly filed to halfcourt in a handshake line.

Gonzaga University head coach Mark Few weaved his way between the gathering crowd on the court and made sure to find the Musketeers guard, and embraced him.

You’re a hell of a player. Probably the toughest I’ve had to game plan for.

Bluiett scored 10 points in Xavier's 83-59 Elite Eight loss to Gonzaga, all coming in the first half.
