University of Wyoming senior golfer Ryan Wallen was tied for second after the opening round of the Mountain West Championship on Friday in Tucson, Arizona.

Wallen made seven birdies and finished with a 5-under 67, leaving him tied with Boise State’s Bryan Humphreys just one stroke back of UNLV’s John Oda.

As a team, the Cowboys sit in sixth place with a 1-over 289. Boise State and San Diego State are tied at the top with scores of 9-under 279.

Rounding out the scoring for UW were Drew McCullough and Glenn Workman, who both shot even par 72; and John Murdock IV and Arron Lickteig, who both carded scores of 6-over 78.
