Drake took a first-quarter lead and held on in the second half to defeat the University of Wyoming women's basketball team 63-50 on Sunday in Des Moines, Iowa.
The game was marred by turnovers, as Wyoming and Drake combined for 45 (23 of them from the Cowgirls).
Liv Roberts led the Cowgirls with 17 points while shooting 7-of-14 from the floor. Roberts also had five rebounds, three steals and two assists. Clara Tapia added 13 points (3-of-3 from behind the arc), four rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Along with turnovers, Drake out-rebounded Wyoming and out-scored the Cowgirls in the paint, off turnovers, on fast breaks and off the bench.
