Members of the University of Wisconsin men's basketball team showered participants with gestures of support at the start and finish of Saturday's Crazylegs Classic.
Players Charlie Thomas, Khalil Iverson, Brevin Pritzl, Andy Van Vliet and Alex Illikainen cheered runners at the race start on Capitol Square. Head coach Greg Gard and associate head coach Lamont Paris supplied bottles of water to finishers at Camp Randall Stadium.
Paris and Gard, who served as the grand marshal for the 35th annual event, clearly enjoyed interacting with runners.
“It's neat to talk to a lot of people about the basketball season and how appreciative they were of what the guys did this year, and how they responded,” Gard said.
