Junior Kelsey Card finished fifth in the invitational section of the shot put at the Triton Invitational on Saturday in San Diego, helping put the finishing touches on a weekend that saw the University of Wisconsin track and field teams compete in meets across the country.
Card recorded a throw of 57 feet, ¼ inch to beat the sixth-place finisher in the event’s premier field by a quarter-inch.
Meanwhile, senior Courtney Walden finished in a four-way tie for fourth place in the pole vault at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. She cleared 13-3½ in a competition that was forced indoors due to rain.
