Jets goalie Pavelec out until at least January

The Winnipeg Jets announced Monday morning that they have placed goaltender Ondrej Pavelec on injured reserve, suggesting Pavelec is going to be out for more than just the one game the team announced on Sunday.

Pavelec sustained a lower body injury in the second period of Saturday night’s 3-2 Jets win over the Arizona Coyotes at MTS Centre. While he went on to finish the period, Pavelec was replaced in the third period by Michael Hutchinson.

The Jets called up goalie Connor Hellebuyck on Sunday from the Manitoba Moose. Head coach Paul Maurice said Sunday afternoon that it still wasn’t clear how serious Pavelec’s injury was and the only thing the team knew for sure at that time was that Pavelec wouldn’t play or backup in Monday night’s game against the Colorado Avalanche at MTS Centre.
