Jets, Bruins tied 1-1 after first period

The Winnipeg Jets and Boston Bruins are locked up 1-1 after the first period of their NHL battle at the MTS Centre tonight.

Jets right winger Blake Wheeler staked his club to a 1-0 lead when he stepped out of the penalty box, took a long, accurate pass from centre Alex Burmistrov, broke in alone and deked out Boston starting goalie Tuukka Rask at the 10-minute mark.

The Winnipeg captain has scored in all three games to begin the 2016-17 campaign.

But the lead lasted just 19 seconds as Bruins centre Dominic Moore, left alone in front, accepted a feed from Tim Schaller and beat goalie Connor Hellebuyck.
