Three former Kansas college stars earn NBA All-Rookie votes

Joel Embiid earned a spot on the NBA’s All-Rookie team after making his debut with 31 games before a knee injury ended his season.

Rodney McGruder and Fred VanVleet also received votes for the NBA All-Rookie team announced on Monday.

Embiid, from Kansas, averaged 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds. He was drafted in 2014, but foot injuries sidelined him until this season.

McGruder, from Kansas State, received 61 votes missing a second-team spot by two votes. VanVleet, from Wichita State, received one vote.

McGruder averaged 6.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 78 games for the Miami Heat.
