SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Illinois State scored four runs in the first inning on the way to a 7-4 win over Wichita State at the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
Willie Schwanke went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double, while Trey Vickers went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
Starter Codi Heuer went one inning and gave up one earned run on five hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
The Redbirds jumped on the board in the top of the first. ILS used five singles and a Shocker error to go up 4-0.
