SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – Wichita State sophomore Markis McDuffie is one of 20 watch list members for the 2017 Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Wednesday.
McDuffie enjoyed a strong freshman season, averaging 7.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 2015-16 on his way to Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year honors. He was also voted to the league's All-Newcomer and All-Bench teams.
Now in its third year, the award recognizes the top small forwards in Division I men's college basketball. A national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel determines the initial list of 20 candidates.
