WKU soccer beats Lipscomb in season opener

Tally Bishop scored her first collegiate goal Friday as Western Kentucky soccer beat Lipscomb 2-0 on the road in its season opener.

Bishop's goal came less than five minutes into the contest. Sophomore Chandler Backes scored a goal for the Lady Toppers (1-0) in the second half of the match in Nashville.

Bishop, who drew the start in her first official match for WKU, was set up by Backes and Hannah Chua on the first shot of her career for the early goal.

That was one of a team-best three shots for the freshman on the night, tied alongside Sarah Gorham.
