The powerful forward Williams (27 points, six rebounds) led the way for the Blue Raiders as they handled the Hilltoppers 91-76 in the 133rd installment of the teams’ rivalry.
Fellow forward Upshaw collected 19 points and 10 rebounds, while the guard Dixon tallied 17 points and eight assists.
WKU (9-10 overall, 3-3 Conference USA) lost Saturday despite shooting 29-of-49 (59.2 percent) from the field. The Toppers’ good shooting was nullified by a 36-of-58 (62.1 percent) effort by Middle Tennessee (15-3, 5-0).
The Blue Raiders posted a whopping 25 assists on their 38 made baskets and outrebounded WKU 34-19, scoring 18 second-chance points off 15 offensive rebounds.
