McGhee's Hilltopper career ends with medical exemption

PROSPECT – Jabari McGhee won’t be suiting up anymore for the Western Kentucky basketball team.

McGhee will be medically exempt from participating with WKU in the upcoming season, Hilltopper coach Rick Stansbury said Monday while meeting with media during an alumni event at Hunting Creek Country Club.

The forward can receive resources and aid from the WKU program over the next school year but won’t practice or play with the team. He also won’t count against the Toppers’ scholarship limit.

Federal health privacy laws forbid WKU from revealing what led to McGhee’s medical exemption.

McGhee is the third player to be declared medically exempt over the last two years.
