Proietto Opens Big 12s with Silver and WVU Record

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. Junior Michael Proietto of the West Virginia University men’s diving team won a silver medal on 1-meter, while inking his name in the WVU record book to open the first day of the 2017 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday.

The Mountaineer men got the first day of the Big 12 Championship started, winning silver medals in all three events, the 200 medley relay, 800 freestyle relay and 1-meter springboard, to go along with Proietto’s school record.

After the first day, the WVU men sit in first place with 137 points, while Texas follows in second with 129 points and TCU in third (91).
