Mountaineers Remain Ranked Despite Dropping Series to BatCats

The Mountaineers remained in the Baseball America Top 25 at number 25 despite dropping their first Big 12 series against the Kansas State Wildcats. The Mountaineers, who earlier in the week defeated their in-state “rivals” Marshall 8-4 before traveling to Manhattan, Kansas. The Mountaineers stole the first game thanks to a four-run eighth inning thanks in part to the wildness of the Wildcats bullpen.

The Mountaineers dropped the middle game of the series after starter Michael Groves recorded one out before leaving the ball game with an arm injury. Grove is scheduled to be evaluated today.
