Earlier this week, West Virginia head rifle coach Jon Hammond was named to Team Great Britain and will compete in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
According to a release from TeamGB.com, Hammond will compete in the men's prone rifle discipline.
This won't be the first Olympic appearance for the Aberdeen, Scotland native, however, as he competed in the 10m Air Rifle, 50m Prone, and 50m three position categories in Beijing in 2008.
Joining Hammond in London will be one current and two former Mountaineer shooters.
Nicco Campriani, the 2011 NCAA air rifle national champion and reigning air rifle world champion, will also be making his return to the Olympic stage.
The Florence, Italy native competed in the same three disciplines as Hammond in Beijing and finished 12th overall in the 10m air rifle category.
In what will be her first Olympic appearance, current West Virginia senior Petra Zublasing will also represent the Italian national team in London.
Zublasing, an Appiano, Italy native, won the 2012 NCAA individual air rifle national title, topping Sarah Scherer of TCU, who will be shooting for the United States national team in the 10m air rifle discipline.
Eric Uptagrafft, the 1993 smallbore NCAA title winner at WVU, will be representing Team USA in London as well, in the 50m prone discipline.
Uptagrafft will be making his second Olympic appearance after competing in the 1996 Games in Atlanta.
West Virginia is the most successful rifle program in NCAA history, with 14 team national titles and 20 individual national titles.
Zublasing makes 15 WVU shooters to compete in the Olympics and this year will be the 12th time at least one Mountaineer shooter competed in the Games.
One of those 15 Olympians, Dave Johnson, will also represent WVU in London as the Team USA rifle coach.
Johnson competed in the 1992 Games in Barcelona and served as the Olympic rifle coach at the 2004 and 2008 Games.
