MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team finished the first day of competition at the 120th edition of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, earlier tonight.

This marks the fifth straight year WVU has participated at the Penn Relays.

In Thursday’s high jump, the Mountaineers had two competitors participating. Marsielle McBeam and Hannah Stone placed 29th and 33rd, respectively, in the event with each clearing 1.60 meters.

Savanna Plombon raced to an eighth-place finish in the women’s 5,000-meter run in 16:48.96. The time was just two seconds off Plombon’s career-best time in the event.
