West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate has backed club team-mate Andy Carroll to return to the England set-up, despite having been left out of the current international squad by Gareth Southgate.
Carroll has returned to form for the Hammers, with four goals since the turn of the year.
But Southgate opted to include only three strikers in his squad, with Marcus Rashford joining Jamie Vardy and Jermain Defoe for the games against Germany and Lithuania.
'I don't understand why England don't call Andy,' said Kouyate after his own country, Senegal, had drawn with Nigeria.
