West Bromwich Albion's Darren Fletcher to put contract talks on hold

West Bromwich Albion captain Darren Fletcher has told the Express and Star that he is ready to put contract talks on hold until the summer.

The midfielder has triggered a one-year extension but has yet to sign it, and his current deal expires at the end of the season.

Former Manchester United man Fletcher activated the option, based on appearances, after playing against Southampton on New Year's Eve.

But he is prepared to wait until the season ends before having further talks about his future.

"It probably is [a conversation for the summer]," he said.
