The Washington Wizards are only the second most popular team in their own city, according to Twitter Analytics.
The Los Angeles Lakers have more Twitter followers in the D.C. area than the Wizards do, and showcasing a disturbing lack on fan interest in the team despite their recent success.
Washington only leads all teams in Twitter followers in just three counties (Montgomery [MD], Fairfax [VA], and Alexandria [VA]) in their local area, which is the fewest amount of counties of any team in the league.
Overall, the Wizards have 358,000 followers, which is more than six other NBA franchises, all of whom have more densely populated fan bases.
