SALT LAKE CITY – Utah captured four singles match to escape with a 4-3 victory over Washington State Sunday in a Pac-12 Conference tennis match at the Eccles Tennis Center.
With the loss the Cougars fall to 9-8, 0-3 in Pac-12 play while Utah improves to 6-4 overall, 2-2 in conference action.
For the second-straight match it came down to a final third set. This time it was at No. 5 where Cougar freshman and Utah's Taylor Calton battled in the decisive match. Calton easily captured the first set 6-1 before Ates responded with a 6-3 second-set, forcing the third.
