Jay Gruden 'disappointed but moving forward' after McCloughan ouster

PHOENIX – Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden was disappointed. He also knows life in the NFL. So after the Redskins fired general manager Scot McCloughan, there was only one thing way Gruden could do: move forward.

McCloughan was fired on March 9, the first day of the league year, after two seasons with Washington.

“Anytime you lose somebody that you become close with, whether it’s a coach or a GM or a player, it’s disappointing,” Gruden said. “But anybody who has been around [the NFL] it long enough understands that change is going to happen.
