Redskins Rumors: Free agent TE Owen Daniels to visit Redskins

In this edition of Redskins rumors, the Washington Redskins may have their eyes on a former Houston Texan to fill the void at tight end left with the departure of Fred Davis.

Per Mike Jones, Redskins beat writer for the Washington Post, free agent tight end Owen Daniels will be visiting the Washington Redskins--

Owen Daniels had spent the first eight years of his NFL career with the Houston Texans, before hitting the open market this offseason. The two-time NFL Pro Bowler proved to be quarterback Matt Schaub's most reliable safety outlet from 2007-12, helping the Houston Texans to back-to-back AFC South championships in 2010 and 2011.

The Washington Redskins were painted into a bit of a corner with the suspension of former tight end Fred Davis, who has been suspended for an indefinite amount of time due to violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

If the Redskins are to fully pursue Daniels, it will be under the assumption that he has fully healed from a leg injury which limited him to just five games with the Texans in 2013. He finished with just 24 receptions for 252 yards--both career-lows for the 31-year-old tight end.
