The Washington Redskins hold the No. 21 overall pick in the NFL Draft after winning the NFC East and making the playoffs. The team lost in the first round, but plan on returning to the post season again next year. In order to do that, the team must make a smart selection with its first round pick.
While the Redskins would love to add a top-10 talent, those players aren't likely to be available when the Redskins pick. The only players listed here are the ones that could conceivably be on the board for Washington. A solid pick can help the team make it back to the playoffs. Here are three players the Redskins should target in the first round:
3. Kenny Clark, DT, UCLA Bruins
There's a good chance that Clark will be on the board for the Redskins at No. 21, and Washington could jump all over him. He'd be the perfect addition for the Redskins, who need defensive line help. Clark has a bright future and landing him would be a major boost for the Redskins' defensive line. If Clark is off the board, another defensive lineman like Alabama's Jarran Reed would make sense. 2. Reggie Ragland, ILB, Alabama Crimson Tide
Ragland isn't as good as C.J. Mosley, but he fits in the Redskins' 3-4 defense. He might not last until pick No. 21, but he'd be a strong selection. 1. Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson Tigers
There's a chance Alexander is gone by the time the Redskins are on the clock. However, there's enough of a chance that he'll be available that the Redskins should make him a top target. Getting Vernon Hargreaves or Jalen Ramsey just isn't going to happen barring something crazy, and Alexander is the top CB after those two. He'd fill a major need for Washington.
