Strasburg gets Nats' Opening Day nod

Related Topics: Opening Day, Max Scherzer

This marks the fourth career Opening Day assignment for the 28-year-old Strasburg. He previously opened the season from 2012-14, striking out 18 in 20 innings while leading the Nationals to wins in all three starts.

Max Scherzer, the club's Opening Day starter the previous two seasons, likely will slot in as the third starter after missing time earlier this spring with injury.
